WAI Gulf Coast Chapter gathered on Saturday, May 21, 2022 for honor the WASP.
WASP, Georgia “Betty” (Sloan) Eidson Kingdon, is buried at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
Georgia “Betty” (Sloan) Eidson Kingdon graduated from WASP training with Class 44-W-8 Aircraft she flew included the Pt-17, BT-13, AT-6, B-26 She served at Tyndall Army Air base. Later, along with a fellow WASP, she ran 6 flight school courses in the Atlanta Public School system starting in 1966. A quote from her in a 1966 Flying Magazine article says it all. “ I love flying. And the kids just love it. This really provides a stimulus for them and it’ll make real people out of ‘em quicker than anything else. Kids want a reason for existing.” She and her husband lived on a mini farm where they raised horses and Shetland sheepdogs. After her husband passed away in 1974, she gave up the Atlanta PS flight program.
Grave located in row that starts 36-1181, on the right of the brick pathway, 12 rows in from the Court D sign.
